Tribal Domestic Violence Counts

Highlighting data on domestic violence
in Indian Country and Alaska

Our Purpose

What is Tribal Domestic Violence Counts?

The Tribal Domestic Violence Counts survey is a national effort organized by the Alliance of Tribal Coalitions to End Violence (ATCEV) to collect crucial data specifically of Tribal domestic violence service providers and shelters to determine a count of adults and children who seek services from Tribal domestic violence victim service and shelter programs.
Advocates working in Indian Country/Alaska know all too well that American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) women face disproportionately high rates of domestic and sexual violence. These advocates have long expressed a need for data specific to these communities- data that can empower, inform, and ultimately help address gaps in resources and services.

Many times, research and studies from mainstream sources fail to capture the unique cultural considerations and jurisdictional barriers that AI/AN women must face, as well as the barriers and challenges that AI/AN victim service providers experience in their efforts to serve AI/AN survivors.
This survey will collect information from the nearly 240 Tribal victim service providers about the number of people accessing services, what type of services they receive, and the challenges that they must face in providing these services.

An unduplicated count of adults and children who seek services from Tribal domestic violence victim service and shelter programs

This survey aims to gather insights on the unique challenges and successes in delivering support to victims of domestic violence within Tribal communities.

By participating, you’ll help shed light on the gaps in resources and services, enabling a wider audience to advocate for increased funding, improved policies, and culturally responsive support systems.

Your input will play a pivotal role in raising awareness and enhancing the quality and accessibility of services for domestic violence victims across Tribal nations.

Together, we can ensure that every survivor receives the care and support they deserve.
