We will be introducing our new book, "There, There" by Tommy Orange for Minority Mental Health Awareness month. This book brings to light the voices of urban Native American. Sometimes being seen as an Urban Native can bring complex feelings and painful histories but also brings a profound amount of knowledge and strength that isn't always brought to the surface of Native American life. The purpose and hope of the yinishta book club is that throughout the discussion of the book "There, there", a community of connection will be built within those who attend the book club."

Save the date for the Restoring Ancestral Winds Shi Doo Shima: A Navajo Tea Party- A Safety Conversation "November is Native American Heritage Month: Join us for "Colonialism, Thanksgiving, and the Direct Influence on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence in Native Communities;" an eye-opening presentation that delves into the lasting impact of colonialism on Native communities today. This session will explore the intersection of colonial history and contemporary issues, including the epidemic of sexual assault and domestic violence in Indigenous communities. By examining how European settler-colonialism disrupted Indigenous cultures, family structures, and traditional ways of life, we will better understand the roots of current struggles faced by Native women and children. Additionally, the presentation will reflect on how colonial narratives, particularly surrounding Thanksgiving, have been used to diminish the painful realities of Native peoples and their ongoing trauma."

Monday May 9th, 2025 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM Chase Home Museum: Liberty Park, S Constitution Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84105 Bring pow wow chairs & picture of loved ones to be honored. ***Participants are kindly requested to wear red, a symbol of the movement, as a gesture of support and remembrance.*** May 5th marks the National Awareness Day for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives, coinciding with Restoring Ancestral Winds Inc. 2nd Annual M.M.I.R. Candlelight Vigil. Let’s come together to honor the lives of these individuals by raising awareness and demanding justice. 40-Hour Native Victim Advocacy Training
Restoring Ancestral Winds, Inc. is pleased to offer a comprehensive 40-hour Native Victim Advocacy Training designed for individuals who are new to victim advocacy, as well as those seeking to refresh and enhance their knowledge in supporting Native survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Dates: August 4-12, 2025 (Weekdays). This in-depth training will cover key topic areas, including: Victim Advocacy Advocacy within the Criminal Justice System & Jurisdiction Special Considerations and Trending Topics Addressing and Responding to Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Community & Family-Based Healing Approaches Self-Care, Vicarious Trauma, and Burnout Participants who complete the RAWI 40-hour Native Advocacy Training will receive a Certificate of Participation verifying successful completion of the program. Please be advised that the content covered in this training may include sensitive topics that could be emotionally triggering or distressing. We encourage all participants to prioritize their well-being and practice self-care throughout the training. Participation is encouraged and appreciated.
